Keyword Density Check is checking the Keyword Density for any given content.
Suppose Harry wants to know any websites’ ranking position, he finds out the page rank of each and every website from Google Tool Bar. He finds that some websites have been ranked high and some low. While researching the reasons of these websites being ranked differently, he was enlightened with the following issues:
1. Keyword density is the measurement in percentage, the number of times a keyword or phrase appears compared to the total number of words in a page. This will result in a keyword density value.
2. While analyzing the keyword density, the most common stop words like (a, an, all, about…) are being removed by this tool in order to save disk space or to speed up search results.
3. In the context of Search Engine Optimization, keyword density check can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase.
4. Keyword Cloud is a visual depiction of keywords used on a website, the main keywords having higher density are depicted in a larger fonts at the start of the cloud..
5. It is important for your main keywords to have the correct keyword density in every web page of your website to rank well in Search Engines which is a good practice in Search Engine Optimization.
Finally Harry could understand some websites maintained keyword density for them to be ranked high and the others were ranked low as no keen importance was given to keyword density check. And ofcourse, page ranking is only one of the main factors in SEO..
Harry observed an important issue while reading the content in different websites, some of them have actually been spammed, by using too many keywords than necessary in every webpage. This is known as keyword stuffing, an unethical practice in SEO. He could see that these websites just to rank high, have been following this unethical practice, which should be avoided.
Harry used many keyword density checker tools available online. The results from these tools were not as accurate as manual keyword density check done by him. He has copied and pasted the webpage’s content in the MS Word file/document and checked the number of words in the pasted content by using tools menu with words count option and number of times the keywords have been repeated in the same content. Then he calculated the keyword density.
For example, the keyword density check for the following:
12 times keywords are repeated in text / 200 words in text *100 = 6 % which means 6 times repetition of keywords in every 100 words.
What Harry found out was, as a good practice in Search Engine Optimization, how many times you have to repeat your keyword in your content depends on the length of the content. Generally for every 100 words you may repeat the main keyword for 4 to 6 times, learnt by Harry through his keyword density check research experience.
